From Boston Harbor... (Boston By Sea)

Boston By Sea: A Seafaring Adventure Through Boston's Past was a one of a kind harbor cruise in Boston during the summer and currently in the classroom (From Boston Harbor...) during the school year. We take a clockwise tour passing Old North Church (Paul Revere), Old Ironsides (Powder Monkeys), and then the remains of the famous shipbuilding yards of Donald McKay (the Greyhounds of the Sea). We pass the old Immigration Hall and "The Golden Stairs", and then travel out to the outer harbor to view the oldest Lighthouse in the country, Boston Light (1716). On the return we explore the Golden Age of Piracy (1690-1725) and the China Trade (Capt. Robert Bennett Forbes). Through traditional songs and rich narrative we'll portray the events that helped shape a great city. This is American history come to life.

"David Coffin is a musician, performer, and music-educator of remarkable ability and insight. As a maritime specialist and descendant of some of America's greatest seafaring families--the whaling Coffins of Nantucket-- no one could be better suited to presenting the traditional songs and yarns of Yankee seafaring in the Age of Sail."
