Some Helpful Guidelines

Music for the King's Court Program:

1) The best (but NOT the only) group size is about 70 students. The program is very interactive. The students are asked many questions and they, in turn, have many questions. The bigger the group, the less opportunity for the students to participate. That is the only consideration to group size. That and the problem of visibility for those seated at a distance from the instruments.

2) One hour is best. 45 minutes is feasible but some material will have to be left out.

3) This program requires 30 minutes to set up and all performances must take place in the same space. An outlet nearby is necessary and bottled water is appreciated. Two 6 ft. tables, or the "edge" of a stage, will provide ample space for the instruments. The performance never takes place on the stage. Proximity to the audience enhances the student's experience.

4) Three performances is the maximum possible in one day.

Some Booking Ideas

Any one of the following criteria qualifies as a Block Booking (and therefore confers a discount):

1) Two or more schools in the same town booking together. They need not book for the same day.

2) A repeat visit to the same school in the same school year.

3) Two schools in the same town on the same day. (Three performances max.)

Ideal Scenario

This performance program was initially created with the 3rd grade in mind. Typically this is when students receive their first recorder and this program is a great "jump start" to their experience. While the program is suitable for all, and may be tailored to any grade, the ideal scenario is that schools will book this program every year for the 3rd grade. Special pricing is considered for schools with that intention.
